    Day Release Munro Bothering,

Quite an austere malt, with a pleasant bitter orange note. Somewhat biscuity, the taste but not texture of a digestive. Water is not a friend to this, brings up an acrid herbal melange and muddies the nose. Quite a competent west coast malt, and gentle in that company. The price, however, is utterly ridiculous. There are many gentle, austere malts of similar quality, and indeed of better quality, under £50. To me, this is abysmal quality at price point. It's competing with Springbank 15 (if you can find it) Glendronach and Glenallachie, Edradour, Deanston 18, Glenfarclas 15, various Benromach releases... and it's a very distant last in such company. For all the guff about a limited amount distilled, you'd think they could have come up with something a bit better for £72.95...

    Janes D,

Whilst on a trip to Scotland last week, me and the wife decided to drive down from Fort William to Oban for a day out and some seafood… On the front is the Oban distillery which we went in to have a look about… unfortunately you needed to prebook for a tour but we went into the shop. Got chatting to the guy in there who recommended the Oban 14… very nice fella and this was the best priced whiskey so all good! This bottle is now my fav… it’s got a complex taste but not to overwhelming.. for me it’s the perfect balance… The last few days I’ve been going through my collection to find something I might prefer but nothing yet… buy a bottle!!

    Sir Frederick,

First time I tried this scotch whisky was in March 2021, and I never have much acquired the taste for scotch, as I like fine bourbons. However, I had some over ice, only because my friend had nothing else...and oh my gosh! I was literal amazed at the smoothness and the touch of sequestered smoked flavor. I have a bottle in my cabinet now, and this is the only scotch I have serious interest. I will be purchasing a lot more.

    RBW,

Odd whisky this one.It sort of waxed and waned in the bottle. Not terrible nor great.I think it doesn't know whether to be Highland or Island taste wise.Maybe a geographical thing?Anyway I'd probably stump up for a small bottle in the future.
