The Western Highland representative in Diageo's 'Classic Malt' series, Oban 14yo is a superb, full-blooded fruity malt with a whiff of heather and more than a hint of smoke.Tasting Notes (1)
Producer's Tasting Notes
Rich sweetness and fruits - oranges, lemons and pears, with sea-salt and peaty smokiness.
Mouth-filling late autumn fruits - dried figs and honey-sweet spices; followed by a smoky malty dryness.
Long, smooth-sweet finish with oak-wood, dryness and a grain of salt.

Whilst on a trip to Scotland last week, me and the wife decided to drive down from Fort William to Oban for a day out and some seafood… On the front is the Oban distillery which we went in to have a look about… unfortunately you needed to prebook for a tour but we went into the shop. Got chatting to the guy in there who recommended the Oban 14… very nice fella and this was the best priced whiskey so all good! This bottle is now my fav… it’s got a complex taste but not to overwhelming.. for me it’s the perfect balance… The last few days I’ve been going through my collection to find something I might prefer but nothing yet… buy a bottle!!
First time I tried this scotch whisky was in March 2021, and I never have much acquired the taste for scotch, as I like fine bourbons. However, I had some over ice, only because my friend had nothing else...and oh my gosh! I was literal amazed at the smoothness and the touch of sequestered smoked flavor. I have a bottle in my cabinet now, and this is the only scotch I have serious interest. I will be purchasing a lot more.
Odd whisky this one.It sort of waxed and waned in the bottle. Not terrible nor great.I think it doesn't know whether to be Highland or Island taste wise.Maybe a geographical thing?Anyway I'd probably stump up for a small bottle in the future.
One of the best chill filtered whiskies you can buy, the smoke is perfectly balanced and the flavours are long and deep. Don’t miss this one
I was first recommended to this Scotch at the MacGregor in Edinburgh on the Royal Mile. Spectacular! It remains our favorite “go to” Scotch. We visited the distillery in Oban, a great stop over city to the islands.
