There is only one word for this wine – showstopping. Ximénez Spinola is based in Jerez, but unlike most wineries based in this region they do not work with the Palomino grape, only Pedro Ximénez. They have been honing their craft since 1729 and have become true masters. This is the Grand Cru of sweet Pedro Ximénez, with dried fruit, prunes, liquorice, sweet spices, figs, Christmas cake, treacle… the list goes on.

    The Grouch,

    Stunningly good, the palate is assaulted by flavours you take minutes to identify. A scoop of vanilla ice cream and a tablespoon of this Sherry is really yummy!

    Just finished the very last glass from a bottle bought in Spain 4-5 years ago. Finished? Savoured, more like. Utterly divine. Side-by-side taste tested against an otherwise very decent PX which tasted thin in comparison. An expensive bargain but SO very well worth it!
