Product Description
The flagship in GlenAllachie's new core range, released in July 2018. Matured in a mixture of virgin oak, oloroso sherry and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, this has sweet flavours of honey, marzipan, bananas and butterscotch.
Prior to 2017, when the distillery was acquired by master distiller Billy Walker, GlenAllachie whisky was most commonly found in blends.

Definitely worth buying instead of the usual Speyside sherried suspects as the bang for buck is superb. My tip (for what it is worth) would be to decant 50% of the bottle into a similarly shaped bottle and give it some air. I'm on my third bottle and each one has improved dramatically dram by dram by dram beyond the label. It takes the alcoholic astringency off the foretaste without the need for any water and gets straight into the real raisiny, spice and ripe orchard fruit heart and finish of the dram. A fabulous whisky that retains the BB (Before Billy) distillery signature (when compared with some older mid-80s/90s bottles) and takes it to the next level. I'm looking forward to trying the same trick with the cask strength version.
So far, Glenallachie is one of my favorites.
Ho hum, the turbines of tedium etc. It’s sweet. It’s smooth. It’s rich in colour and taste. It’s boring. It’s fatigueing. Would I buy it again? Nossir. There is so much worthy and robustly exciting competition - Glendronach Port Cask, BenRiach 12, and Johnnie Black for a start. This sherried distillate just doesn’t stack up.
Splendid stuff.
Bought this for my husbands birthday and he was very impressed! Very dark in colour and rich he would most certainly have this again
