Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes by Caroline Roddis (The Whisky Exchange)

    • Nose

At first, bananas and tropical fruits are nestled into soft, pillowy cereal, then hints of almond and orange blossom develop. Red cherry hints at the sherry influence.

    • Palate

Caramel popcorn, tart apple and soft banana, a touch of citrus, combined with wafts of sherried oak, raisins, milk chocolate, plums, cherries and a hint of tobacco. Water rounds things out and emphasises the red fruit characteristics.

    • Finish

Rounded and fruity, with touches of the oak spice lingering.

  • Tasting notes by Tom Ransome-Jones (The Whisky Exchange)

    • Nose

A touch of sherry character – low, cakey spice and sultana with a touch of dry oak around the edges. Jammy orange moves into the middle with a tart, marmalade-y candied rind note. It gets juicer the more I come back to it; jammy orange remains the central feature, but some darker stone fruit starts to creep in – a little bit of dark cherry and a hint of date, maybe.

    • Palate

Big, immediate, light fruitiness which quickly breaks apart into honey, some light vanilla up top and some floral flavour before dry oaky character rushes up from below. The sweetness is swept aside by dry grass and hay notes, then everything settles into a mouth-filling, woody spice.

    • Finish

Medium-long with that dry oak-spice character hanging around and a twist of juicy citrus towards the back of the tongue.
