Product Description
Port Charlotte's long-awaited 10 year old, rich and smoky whisky made by the independently minded folks at Bruichladdich distillery on Islay. PC, as it's known to its friends, is heavily peated to 40ppm, putting it up with Islay's other heavy hitters. The resulting whisky is big and peaty with a maritime tang – the Bruichladdich team would claim that it's because their warehouses are so close to the sea, we're still undecided. In the end, the most important thing is the taste: it's rather good.
I love this whisky, as it reminds me vividly of my first trip to Islay; a big peated Islay single malt, with salt and seaweed from the shore, wrapped up in a warm blanket. Eric Fergusson, The Whisky Exchange

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes

Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
-
Nose
Toffee and vanilla fudge jump out before we dive into a bucket of singed raisins and smouldering peat bricks. Green grass and leafy notes poke out around the edges along with candied lemons and flamed orange peel.
-
Palate
A sweet creamy hit up front leads into lemon boiled sweets. black-pepper spice and a thick layer of peaty smoke. The green edges from the nose are back, with richer notes of stewed apples and sultanas, and a touch of vanilla toffee.
-
Finish
Menthol throat sweets and sweet smoke slowly fade to leave grilled apples and buttery pastry.

"Smoky, peaty, but with a weirdness at the back of it all". This is how i've described this one at my place of work, and a year and half later, it still feels apropo. It isn't necessarily the most peaty dram out there, but don't let that take away from the experience. It is smoky, peaty, and just a little bit weird; if nothing else, it's one of the most memorable whisky's i've ever tried.

This is a lovely dram at an unbelievable price! 5* all the way!

An Islay Masterpiece at a favourable price. Billy Abbott's (WE) tasting notes are bang on.

Had high hopes, pretty disappointed. For something that claims to be heavily peated, it is not. I found it pretty 1 dimensional and offering little overall. Happy to leave to those who love it. A cheaper talisker will do me very nicely instead.
