      The best Christmas cake you can imagine. Refined, enticing aromas of candied peel, allspice, cinnamon, dried fruit and golden syrup.

    • Palate

      Complex, spicy dried fruit, with interweaving layers of honey, gingerbread and toasty oak. This is very classy stuff, never overbearing.

    • Finish

      Honeyed, spicy finish that persists.

    • Comment

      An exceptional rum, which has complexity in spades yet is beautifully balanced. Anyone who dismisses rum as a one-dimensional category should try this, and prepare to be wowed.

    I gave this a 7.5/10 for my personal liking, but in a blind taste test out of multiple other el dorado's, pussers, ron zacapa, diplomatica and doorlys, this was the only that I guessed spot on; so it definitely was the most distinctive of all I'd tasted In the nosing, I detected banana, dark molasses, lime zest and raisins In the tasting, it has a very strong body with ginger being quite promenent. This tailed away into a smooth complexity of lemon, honey and white flowers (honeysuckle/jasmine/stephanotis) The aftertaste of ginger crept up much too much for me personally, and didn't lend any new experiences. I much preferred the Doorly's 12.
