An easy-drinking blended Scotch that's sweet and rounded, with notes of vanilla, woodsmoke and gentle spice. The whisky is matured using a combination of freshly-built oak casks from Ohio, and ex-bourbon barrels that have been double-scorched to enhance the vanilla and smoke flavours.
The Woodsman comes in a tree-inspired bottle that is designed to evoke the spirit of the great outdoors. It's a whisky that can be sipped or mixed into long drinks, and it pairs very well with buttered scones.Tasting Notes (1)
Tasting notes from the producer
Vanilla with a hint of woodsmoke.
Rounded vanilla, hints of spice, and a subtle smoky sweetness.
Sweet and easy – no lingering smoke or whisky burn.
This whiskey is lite, smooth and sweet but there was something stange about it. I couldn't put my finger on exactly what it was, but it just didn't quite sit right in the stomach. Kinda like you've had a shot of tequlia and you have that feeling you're going to be sick but you hold it in only to feel real uneasy for a while. It may be because its a 40% blend, they usually add something to get its brown colour or maybe my stomach just didnt agree with their selection of spices. This whisky has potiential to a great and afforable go to whisky but for me, it just falls short.
Average at best, poor man's JW black label.
Bought this because it was on special offer; for £10 off it seemed worth a try... but what a disappointment. I certainly would never pay the list price: totally unexceptional in my view - give me a Whyte and MacKay any time. Best thing about it is the bottle...
I’m very choosy about my whiskeys - this one is very good! Quite a unique flavour and very acceptable! I recommend it.
I tried this whisky for the first time whilst spending a few nights away, exploring the Shakespeare experience at Stratford Upon Avon. I liked it a lot, and it will now become my dram of choice. Shared it with others from my hip flask at the Cenotaph on Remembrance Day.
