Mòine – peated in Gaelic – is Bunnahabhain's name for smoky whisky and this 2008–vintage release brings together the distillery's weighty spirit with both peat smoke and a richly flavoured red-wine cask. The resulting jumps from nuts to fruit, with a complex bonfire of smoke running through its core.Tasting Notes (1)

My fave whisky at the moment. Recently entertained at a dinner party and we finished the bottle in one sitting!
Bunnahabhain released a lot of "Moine" bottlings since 2007 (OBs and IBs)... a bit too much at my opinion... like Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer used to say, enough is enough! At last a different kind of Moine! I enjoyed a lot Bowmore Dusk and other recent releases specially a Bordeaux wine matured version only available at the distillery that a friend of mine made me taste (thanks a lot Herv?!), this Bunna Moine Bordeaux is just the perfect mix of peat, chocolate and red fruits: delicieux! Other distilleries should try more often French red wines for their maturation instead of everlasting bourbon and sherry casks, or hazardous finishes :)
Nose: light peat and smoke, red fruit, smoked bakon. After a while tropical fruits are starting to come up. Light medical accents in the background which is not usual for Bunnahabhain. Taste: Definately peat and smoke, juniper, leather, read fruit again, smoked bacon and little ash in the background. Finish: long but too subtle in my opinion, sweet with some ash and peat comming out. Summary: very pleasant whisky, with some interesting notes, definately Bordeaux is not overpowering. Only the finish could use more character. I evaluate whisky on the scale 1-10 and this one is a 6,0
