An awesome rum – winner of a Platinum medal and ranked in First Place by the prestigious Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago, with a whopping 97 points. Interestingly, now that industry giants Diageo are distributing Zacapa, the '23 years old' age statement has suddenly been dropped and replaced with a somewhat more plausible claim – the rums used are aged between 6 and 23 years old and are blended together in a solera.

    I first tried Zacapa while in Guatemala in 2010 and it instantly became my favourite drink of all time, and remains as such. Solera 23 and XO are all the rum you could ever ask for. Zacapa IS the best rum in the world, hands down. So many happy memories and flavour triggers from this Rum. I close my eyes, take a sip, and I'm right back in Guatemala with my jaw on the floor, amazed at how good this stuff is. As someone who has consumed 50+ bottles of Zacapa over the years, I would say the flavour profiles listed on this website are not accurate. Then again, it's mostly subjective in this field. Do yourself a favour and try it for yourself. It will change your life.
