Product Description

The Mitchell's Spot whiskeys have always had an affinity for wine, and this Green Spot shows that off even further. Rich and spicy triple-distilled pot-still whiskey from Midleton is initially aged in bourbon and sherry casks before being finished for 12 months in casks that used to hold rich red Zinfandel wine from the famed Chateau Montelena in California's Napa Valley. Montelena was bought by Irishman Jim Barrett in the 1970s, and this release celebrates the shared heritage of his wine and Midleton's fine whiskey. It's rich and spicy, with layers of marzipan and toasted oak on top of the pot-still fruit and weightiness.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • From The Producer

    • Nose

Crisp oak combines with the soft sweetness of vanilla, white chocolate and marshmallow, balanced with signature Green Spot red apples and ripe pears, along with pomegranate, cranberries and maraschino cherries, the contribution of the wine cask

    • Palate

Sweet mouth coating takes on a dry note thanks to the effect of the wine cask. Pot still spices subside with zesty citrus leading to ripe orchard fruit and red berries. A touch of marzipan and toasted oak add to the complexity

A gift from Dublin when my wife returned recently. I had never tried a Greenspot whiskey before. I have to say I am very impressed with this one. Great spicy flavours, very smooth and extremely easy to drink. I will be adding this to my list of favourites!

I bought a bottle after reading the reviews and I’m slightly disappointed with it. I thought it would be as good as the Redbreast Single Pot Still 12 years old. But I’m glad I bought it as a part of my collection.

I like the standard Green Spot and was keen to see if this finish added anything. It did. This version is even better and I’d recommend it, particularly to people who have maybe tried one or two Irish whiskies but didn’t find something in them to encourage them to try more

An extremely good irish. Not harsh in the nose, but creamy and almost butterscotchy if that can be a word. The cream is there on the pallate. Easy drinking, yes yes yes.
