Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting Notes by the Producer

    • Nose

Marmalade on burnt toast, buttered crumpets, grilled banana and pineapple. The smoke is earthy, mellow and inviting like a summer barbeque.

    • Palate

Creamy with burnt orange peel and macadamia nuts. A rollercoaster of robust peat that builds and then descends, accompanied by sumptuous fruit flavours: gooseberry, honeydew lemon and a salt-rimmed margarita.

    • Finish

Fresher and slightly green; pine, vanilla, concentrated apple juice.

  • Tasting notes by Caroline Roddis (The Whisky Exchange)

    • Nose

Gentle aromas of orange calpol, Battenberg cake and lemon tart with flaky pastry. This is underscored by freshly-lit cigars resting on a pile of their dead comrades, their smoke carried away by a summer breeze with hints of burgeoning orchard.

    • Palate

Intensely smoky notes of sweet ash and cooling smoked ham, accompanied by a green bark that leads into burnt star anise and cloves. Light orchard fruit notes round it out.

    • Finish

Light, the smoke notes fading to leave the fruit and green bark.
