Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Waxed and polished oak and crunchy apples to start. Candy bracelets, lemon jelly, peach and baked apples follow. A hint of mint develops along with shortbread and butter Nice biscuits.
Palate
Apple pie with a crust of brown sugar. Candied lemons, cinnamon spice and apricot jam. Tropical fruit jelly sits in the middle, with hints of real and gummi mango and papaya. Darker notes build from underneath: liquorice and damp oak.
Finish
Spiced pastry and apples disappear under a wave of cinnamon spice. As the spice fades, the fruit builds, along with liquorice hints.
Comment
Stacks of fruit up front but with a darker side hiding until almost the finish.

Tried this in a tasting and fell in love. Plumped for a full bottle to celebrate a new job. Very complex and evolving - a whisky to spend a bit of time with. Will definitely be seeking out more from Glentauchers. Billy's tasting notes are spot on for me.
