Product Description
Black Tot is a modern take on an old style of rum, inspired by more than three centuries of naval tradition. Bringing together the core components of British Naval rum, Black Tot is fresh and fruity spirit that blows the cobwebs off the stylebook. Rather than the rich and dark style of the past, Black Tot layers elegant and fruity Barbados rum with rich and full-bodied Guyanan and funky Jamaican to create a rum that marries tropical fruit tones with a rich undercurrent of chocolate and coffee.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Thick and fruity, with pineapples, bananas and freshly-removed banana peel in a chamois leather bag. Golden syrup, brown sugar and funkily sweet sugar-cane juice peek out from behind the fruit, with a touch of polished oak following in their wake.
Palate
Rounded and rich, with butter toffee, banana cream and caramel to start. Gentle cinnamon and allspice build, with more fruit – baked apples, pineapple cubes and dried mango – joined by coffee, bittersweet dark chocolate and a grind of black pepper.
Finish
Chocolatey mocha coffee fades, leaving roasted bananas and a tingle of anise.
Comment
A tasty and versatile blend, showcasing my favourite bits of Barbadian, Guyanan and Jamaican rums – fruity, rich and funky.
Black Tot Style
Inspired by 300 years of Navy tradition, Black Tot holds Caribbean rum at its heart, using some of the finest examples from Barbados, Guyana and Jamaica to create a rum for today. Unhindered by convention, we have turned Navy rum on its head – replacing the singular, sweet styles of the past with a multi-faceted, unsweetened rum that focuses on flavour.
Barbados
Home to the oldest rum distillery in the world, Barbados is famous for its elegant and fruity rums that are perfect for both sipping and mixing.
Guyana
Guyana produces some of the world's finest sugarcane and intense, full-bodied rums that have been the cornerstone of Caribbean blends since the 18th century.
Jamaica
Heavier in style, pot-still Jamaican rum utilises longer fermentation times and proprietary yeasts to create its distinctively big, funky flavours.

Have just returned home after visting London for the day and went to the Whiskey Exchange. I bought a bottle of Doorley's XO. As I walked to the cashier to pay I noticed the minutures and was immediately drawn to this Rum. I've just finished it and can honestly say this was a great find. So morish. Definitely up with my favs from El Darado 15, Plantation XO. Looks like im going to have to back to the Whisky Exchange again.
I do think that like wine, spirits need to be given a little air when the bottle is frost opened. Pour into a large glass. Swirl it round, a bit of ice if it’s hot. This is superb rum. Dense flavours, orange and chocolate, nougat and honey.
Excellent. Full bodied and quality but for when I want something less complex
Fabulous rum. Warm and very tasty. Enjoyed with a cigar by the fire.......nice!
Layers and layers of different flavours with distinct and beautiful aromas...mouth watering.
