Have sampled this quite recently. The initial smell is quite subtle but definitely carriers the signature aroma's of the better rums, while not been too sweet on the nose it dose encourage further investigation with offerings of caramel on the edge of toasting, some orchid based sweetness with a fresh tartness hovering in the background. Initial tastes deliver an experience not directly in sync with the nose delivering a considerable backdraft but followed by a particularly pleasant and round finish. Happily the aftertaste is very much consistent with the initial smell. If there is a signature it may well be an undertone of a fresh woody tartness, sapling almost, rounded off by a good balance of various nuts. In truth I was probably quarter way into the bottle before I started to fully appreciate what this has to offer(not in one sitting may I add). It wouldn't be my go to sipping Rum, but it did complement a Davidoff Cigarillo quite nicely while been sipped. However I believe this particular Real McCoy is incredibly good when mixed with the most famous of the darker brown mixers. I have possibly only consumed one or two rums which can match how good this offering is when mixed with that most famous of dark drinks lots of ice and no slices of citrus fruit. There is a subset of extra delights reveal themselves when this Rum is consumed as I have just mentioned. Definitely one to experience.
