Product Description

A 25-year-old blended malt whisky from indie bottler Wemyss Malts, Velvet Fig is made with a combination of five 1994-vintage ex-sherry hogsheads from undisclosed Highland and Speyside distilleries and 15 1988 ex-sherry hogsheads of unpeated Bunnahabhain that were married in 14 refill hogsheads for 16 months. Aromas of rich blackcurrant jam, toffee, oak, aromatic spices and cigar box are balanced on the nose. The palate offers notes of dried fruit, maraschino cherries, dates, plums and apricot, alongside milk chocolate, wood spices and leathery meatiness.

    Wow, this is an absolute star. Complex, sweet, smooth, reminds me of christmas and my gran's boozy sherry trifle. Nose is glorious, full of raisins, some almond, and a little sweet liquorice if you let it sit for long emough in the glass. Palate is rich, full of dried fruit notes with a slightly salty note right on the end to balance it all. This is a winner.
