Product Description

An untamed young single malt from Ardbeg, Wee Beastie has spent five years in a combination of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks before being unleashed. Fresh, herbal aromas of pear, cracked black pepper, pine needles, vanilla and honey-glazed ham mingle on the nose with aniseed, green apple, leather and coffee. The palate offers notes of dark chocolate, hot tar, smoked bacon, aniseed and eucalyptus that liner in the finish.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange

    • Nose

Crunchy barley sugar, sharp apples, cracked stones and lashings of smoke. Damp seaweed, rock pools and mossy stones stick out from behind the smoke, followed by tarry ropes, burning pine needles, singed lemon peel and barbecued apples.

    • Palate

Crisp apples, ash and a big hit of damp peat smoke to start. Gravel and burnt logs develop along with sea-spray brininess. The dryness disappears under a wave of lemon and apples, before reasserting itself with a shovel of driveway gravel and ash.

    • Finish

Fresh leather, creosoted fences and piles of lemon peel.

    • Comment

An unashamedly brash and youthful Ardbeg, tempering the raw character of the new-make spirit with just enough oak influence without losing any punch. Elemental stuff.

    Sean N,

Amazing, unapologetically bold and flavorful liquid gold! Heavy on the smoke on the nose and on the tongue. Granted, its not for everyone. Need to love Islay smoke to truly appreciate this beauty. Absolutely adore the Beastie!

    Anonymous,

Obviously not a whiskey everyone is going to like. It can have quite an overpowering taste to it and it is obviously very smoky. I enjoy it because of those things though and don't think that that's a bad thing in any way. Great price for it, definitely worth every penny.

    Big D,

This is very good. Don't be put of by the age the team at Ardbeg really have made a cracker of a whisky, literally created a beast. I absolutely love this the 10 years old is fantastic but this beast really is a great addition to the Ardbeg roster. Its brighter than the 10 or some of the other wonderful NAS drams its a fire cracker peppery but has a wonderful smooth finish. the nose is great too. If your an Islay fan you'll definitely enjoy this.

    Anthony,

A brutal yet young Ardbeg...extremely smoky BBQ sauce, a touch of fruitiness in spite of itself, followed by a tar/ash finish that lingers forever and ever, like having a shovelful of fireplace ash dumped down your throat. It's not my thing (I enjoy Laphroaig), but if you're looking for the liquid equivalent of a burnt, still smoking pine log snatched out of a campfire, this is it.
