I think, for the price, that this is an incredibly interesting whisky. It’s not he smoothest, but for the price, it’s smooth enough. What really makes it an amazing whisky is the depth of flavour and the complexity of those flavours. Savour it, don’t rush as others have said. You will enjoy the different layers. The aftertaste is a bit sour or medicinal but I don’t mind it too much.
This scotch had a strong medicinal after taste. It is smooth but the after taste is very distracting.
Simply stunning. I'm relatively new to the world of whisky, but have been working my way through a dozen or so high quality single malts. So far, this one is my favourite dram by quite a margin. Superb mouth feel, which to me is one of the most important aspects of a great malt. The flavours keep coming on this one. I like to spend at least an hr for each glass with this malt, taking small sips and adding a little water over that time to help it open up. A really enjoyable whisky that just reveals more flavours the longer you give it. Just lovely stuff!
The 10yr cask strength was a masterpiece for its price. Good balance of cask influence and distillery character. The NAS cask strength has been good but not as great but this batch 004 has a better sherry cask influence and quite savoury. Better than other batches IMHO
