Product Description

An American rum from Privateer, bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange after three years in a barrel. On the nose cooked orchard fruits with a freshly baked vanilla sponge dusted with icing sugar and a touch of lavender, behind lies more savoury notes of black tea, green mango and soft cedar wood spices. On the palate richer fruits come through banana and toffee apple with dusty spices, a hint of olive and some deliciously salty notes. The finish is long with a lick of liquorice and caramelised brown sugar. This is as American as apple pie and baseball and like all good things will reward anyone that gives it time in glass to open up and develop its flavours.

    • Nose

      Brûlée topping cracks to reveal creamy bananas, nutmeg, white chocolate and pink shrimp sweets. Darker notes of crunchy caramel develop, with hints of mint fondant and freshly cut grass hiding behind.

    • Palate

      Crisper and spicier than the nose suggests, with cinnamon spice, flamed orange zest and anise leading. The sweet banana notes are hiding behind a wall of bittersweet caramel and are joined by the mint from the nose. Crunchy, sweet and sour toffee apples build, followed by a touch of pine resin and sultana.

    • Finish

      Cinnamon spice and crunchy apple fades to leave damp oak, freshly cut grass and apple peel.

    • Comment

      A creamy and sweet nose slowly develops grassier notes which make themselves obvious on the palate. Balanced and complex, with sweet and sour fruit joined by creamy cask notes, bitter char and rich banana.
