Johnnie Walker Red Label was launched in its current form by brothers George and Alexander Walker in 1909, though it had existed as Walker's Special Old Highland Red Label for some years previously. Alexander blended a type of whisky which is more suited to mixing with soda than the heavier, more old-fashioned whiskies, and named it after his grandfather, who had started the family business in 1820. Today it is the world's most popular whisky and is sold in more than 200 markets world-wide.Tasting Notes (2)

Its a good, better, and the best.
Simply the BEST, its the only Whisky I drink on a regular BASIS and or Walker;s on occasions.
Despite its bad reception, I honestly think Johnnie Walker Red is actually fairly drinkable. It's a bit rougher than what a 40% whisky should be, but it's got a nice enough and fairly complex flavour. I like how it smells one way but it tastes another, that contrast is enough to make me interested in it in a way that a lot of other whiskies don't. And many people refuse to acknowledge that Johnnie Walker Red does in fact have a taste of peat and smoke. Which is common in blended Scotch but I think it's more noticeable here than it is in many others. All things considered Johnnie Red isn't bad for the price, if you just want a cheap daily drinker or something to mix, or for when you roll out of bed in the morning and you're like "I need a drink with my toast and yoghurt", this will do just fine.
I have tried this product and enjoyed it for over 50 years. I have not always stayed with the JW red label as over the years I have grown to like a large variety of scotch Recently I purchased a large bottle of red label and was very surprised with the taste. It was very “ peaty” to the point that the old expression of “ there is no such thing as bad scotch, just that there are some better than others” proves the point, this bottle was BAD. bad in taste, flavor, and smell. I called the distributor and all they would do is say “ if you bye another red label and send us the receipt we will reimburse you within 60 days”. The two people I talked to just didn’t get it. They want me to do all the work to buy another bottle of CRAP, and then maybe get my money for the second bottle back! What is with that. Just saying to those out there, don’t buy Red Label, it is NOT GOOD.
Good tasting whisky in a great vintage bottle.
