A 1975 vintage Ardbeg from Douglas Laing as part of their Platinum Selection series. This was the first year of Ardbeg using large amounts of barley malted off site. Aged for 30 years in wood, this is complex with a classic salinity.

    • The nose is evenly balanced between the anticipated characteristics of iodine and peat, equally matched by sweetly oaky and vanilla'd nuances.

      Despite the years, the palate is delicate, round, blatantly tarry and phenolic yet carrying sweet Mocha type attributes.

      Its finishing qualities are smoky, phenolic, still decidely tarry - even carrying a late suggestion of medicine and the hospital ward.
