Bowmore 12yo has a place in many hearts as Islay's 'medium-peated' malt. A pronounced iodine character with plenty of pepper, the current 12yo bottling is a welcome return to the classic Bowmores of the 1960s and '70s, with the emphasis on tropical fruit and smoke. A deserved runner-up in our Whisky of the Year 2014-15 blind tasting.Tasting Notes (2)
Tasting Notes by Stuart P
Appetising combo of smoke and caramelised pineapple with a heady hit of tropical fruit.
Some lovely smokiness, but the fruity elements really sing here: pineapple, peach and mango all dancing with the smoke that surrounds them. Great balance.
Rather soft and relaxing, with the smoke gently fading.
Producer's Tasting Notes
On the eye
Subtle lemon and honey, balanced beautifully by Bowmore's trademark peaty smokiness.
Sweet and delicious heather honey and gentle peat smoke.
The long, mellow finish.

I have found it nicely balanced with soft peat smoke and full of character. Reasonably priced.
Definitely one to drink and not to savour.Very limited but not unpleasant to sip while doing your thing
Hi , I was given a bottle of this 12 year old but could not drink it sadly . The taste was so different to my usual Grouse , Grants , Bells . I thought it must have gone off . I offered a taste to my wife ....but the same reaction . It was given to me by my friend , so am afraid he'll give the same next Christmas !
I’ve tried quite a few whiskeys in in price bracket.... but this sits pretty high up there! Smooth and slightly smoky at the same time, but not too over powering with smoke that everyone can enjoy!!! When on offer it’s a steel. Will always have a bottle in my cupboard!
I really liked this. Definitely going to buy another bottle. Not overly smokey, and not as medicinal as Big Peat. All round definitely worth the money.
