Originally released to commemorate the distillery's 200th anniversary, this eight-year-old has now been added as a permanent addition to the core range. Big and smoky, with sweet spice that becomes apparent with a drop of water.

I liked the review below from a disapproving drinker saying that it was "liquid smoke and gasoline" - which I found encouraging! For the review that said not worth the price tag, this is not the only place that sells it, I can see it for £22 less at a major supermarket using their discount card. My thoughts... This is a 48% young Lagavullin, natural in colour, characterful, and with plenty of fiery peat. For those who want a boring less characterful whisky please go for the now overpriced 16 yo. which has got to be one of the dullest whiskies at that age statement.
Not worth the pricetag anymore, just like most Diageo products lately.
This was undrinkable, tasted of liquid smoke and gasoline. Dumped the rest of the bottle, very disappointing.
Oh this is so nice, sweet smoke and peat, creamy and opens beautifully with a very small drop of water. hint of cigar smoke in the finish. i was so confident with this i bought a second bottle. i actually think its better than the 16yr
A dram certainly worth a mention. Although without the intensity of the 16 year old, still a vivid flavour of Islay and the intense aromas and flavours of that rugged island. The nose will transport you to the coast, the taste to the memories of childhood beach adventures and the finish, magical aromas of sweetness, salt and sea.
