Bolgheri has become famous as a region in Italy for it’s Super Tuscan wines made with a blend of local and international varieties. Tenuta di Ghizzano is one of the oldest wineries in their area and has recently converted to organic viticulture. This wine is a blend of 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose blackcurrant, black cherry, a hint of leather, plum and liquorice. This is a medium to full bodied wine with plenty of fruit but also toasted oak spices. A wine for lingering and allowing to open up in the glass, serve this with lamb or duck.
