Product Description

A popular expression in Bowmore's ongoing range, this replaced the 17 year old, which was phased out a few years ago. Fresh, with notes of salty kippers and coal smoke.

Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • Tasting notes by Billy A

    • Nose

Light, fragrant smoke – like herbs on fire. Also butterscotch, light menthol, nectarines, brine and ferns.

    • Palate

A big floral note up front followed by a prickly middle, with sweet syrup, sugared flowers and an oily mouthfeel.

    • Finish

Sweet, with floral notes, lightly tannic wood and a touch of sawdust.

    • Comment

This seems to be very much what Bowmore are going for – balanced smoke and wood, with a hint of the floweriness that they are known for.

Agreed with some other reviews, very basic. Good whisky but personally I prefer the 12 year old for its price

Very disappointing, lack of depth and flavour. Really basic

Wasn’t impressed. Not bad but the 12 and 15 are just as good. Didn’t stand out

Best in the range. Very smooth. Rich and sweet, infused with salt, smoke and toffee. A bit deeper and more complex than the 15. Overall very good. If you're looking for a more elegant side of Islay, with a good depth of flavours, this would be it.

A really nice balance between the smoky peat and the sweetness from the sherry casks.
