An impressive show of the house’s iconic style, Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Cuvée Reservée is a multi-vintage blend of Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay grapes that has gained an easy charm from its four years of ageing. Energetic notes of grapefruit, plums and green apple burst forward on the nose, complemented by warm brioche, roasted almonds and thick honey across the palate. This is a brilliant wine for pairing with hard cheeses, fruity desserts or even with a traditional fish and chips.

Well-structured and energetic, Piper-Heidsieck Essentiel Cuvée Reservée is made with a blend of 47% Pinot Noir, 31% Pinot Meunier and 21% Chardonnay grapes and matured on the lees for a minimum of 36 months and aged for at least six months after disgorgement. Essentiel is made with an almost identical recipe to Piper Heidsieck Brut NV Champagne, but is aged in a different part of the cellar, an inexplicably perfect place that creates wines with a particularly charming character.

Founded in 1785 by Florens-Louis Heidsieck, Maison Piper-Heidsieck is among France’s oldest Champagne houses. It has a long history of celebrity fans, becoming a firm favourite of Marie Antoinette soon after its inception, all the way through to Marilyn Monroe centuries later.

In 1823 the house was taken over by Christian Heidsieck and Henri-Guillaume Piper. They were a formidable duo who managed to receive Royal Warrants from 14 royal and imperial courts, creating and firmly establishing the name Piper-Heidsieck as one of excellent quality Champagne.
