A rich and smoky 10-year-old single malt from Laphroaig that has been finished in oloroso sherry casks, creating a rich, full-bodied character. Aromas of TCP, Manuka honey, clove, smoked bacon, leather and pine tar fill the nose, complemented by notes of treacle, wax, toffee, maple syrup, dark chocolate, pine needles, chestnut honey and rich peat smoke throughout the palate.
Tasting Notes (2)Sherry and Smoke Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish

Laphroaig is known for its distinctively smoky Islay single malt, and this new release combines that world-renowned character with richly flavoured oloroso casks to create the perfect marriage of sherry and smoke.
Maturatation in ex-bourbon casks allows the whisky to develop its classic medicinal character, before it is filled into carefully selected oloroso sherry casks to further amplify the distillery’s powerfully seaweed-laden smoky style with layers of dark fruit, manuka honey, maple syrup and well-cured bacon.
About Laphroaig

For more than 200 years, Laphroaig has sat on the south coast of Islay producing some of the world’s most sought after peated whisky. One of the handful of Scottish distilleries which malts some of its own barley, it uses peat from its own peat bogs when drying the grain, giving its whisky the distinctively medicinal and smoky character that it has become known for over the centuries.

Truly excellent. If glenfarclas distilled on Islay instead of the mainland it would taste like this!

Tried a bottle of this at our whisky group after some excitement around an aged statement sherry cask finished Laphroaig and we were a bit let down. I think we were just expecting more. Given the price of the Lore, and even the Cask strength, we felt it would be worth spending more. We were glad none of us paid the full price and the cost was split amongst the group. A good balance of peat and sherry but felt let down by a fairly uneventful arrival and finish in our experience. Nice to see it bottled at 48% but was easily drowned with the addition of water. It was okay but doubt I'd buy a dram of it again for the foreseeable future.

This is just great. From a longtime Laphroaig/Islay whisky fan I always love to see a new take on the style. Sherry casks are expensive and this is limited so don’t be shy about spending a few extra dollars if you can afford to do so. Enjoy this unique take on Islay in general and Laphroaig in particular.

A good balance between peat and sherry that benefits from the higher ABV. In my opinion, the price to quality ratio is a little weighted towards the former. I find the Lore to be of better quality and it can currently be found at a lower price than this.

Sherried Islay is not easy to get right - the sweetness and the peat war with each other unless you get it spot on... This one they got right - it’s excellent. If you’re not a Laphroaig fan, you’ll probably hate it, but you wouldn’t be daft enough to buy it anyway - for those of us who do like Laphroaig, it’s great...
