A 2020 French Antilles rum that has been matured in a Port cask and bottled by 1423 Single Barrel Selection, exclusively for The Whisky Exchange. Aromas of caramelised banana, mango, butter, pineapple, pine nuts and lemon peel fill the nose, complemented by notes of cream, popcorn, papaya, brown sugar, vanilla and sultanas throughout the palate.

    • Nose

      Feisty, with a whack of intense fruity sweetness and a touch of acetic sourness jumping out of the glass: kombucha and sour apples balanced against sweet pear and banana. Savoury notes hide under the fruit: salty butter, plain popcorn and a touch of rubber.

    • Palate

      Softer than the nose suggested, but still intense with green and overripe bananas, stewed apples and ripe pears. Spice builds, backed up by brown sugar. More fruit develops: peach, apricot and mango.

    • Finish

      Peppery and stickily sweet, with candied mango and papaya fading to leave brown sugar and spice, which linger for a long time.
