A 2010 Mauritius rum from Grays Distillery that has been finished in Denmark for 2 years in a Moscatel wine cask and bottled exclusively for The Whisky Exchange by 1423 Single Barrel Selection. Aromas of clove, allspice, forest floor, roasted coffee beans, sultana, prune, black tea and sweet tobacco fill the nose, complemented by notes of cinnamon, dried mango, toffee-covered pineapple, dried fruits, leather and liquorice throughout the palate.

Apples, pears and bananas, egg custard tarts dusted with cinnamon and nutmeg, gummi bears, Fruit Salad sweets and slightly sour white grapes. It sweetens as it sits, with crisp and juicy muscat grapes developing.

Sweet and fruity, with pear, lychee and mango leading. Fruity toffee builds, backed up by baking spices. Dark treacle toffee sits underneath and sweet grape juice builds through the middle.

Bittersweet dark chocolate and tropical fruit, with a touch of barrel char bitterness.
