The Horse’s Spirits Co

Founded in Germany’s Black Forest in 2020, the Horse’s Spirits Co set out to bring together the centuries-old distilling methods of its home with the traditions of American whiskey, teaming up with Firestone & Robertson Distilling Co in Texas to create the perfect bourbon base for its creations.

Bourbon Baby!

The Texan bourbon that forms the base of Horse With No Name is made with a combination of Texan yellow dent corn, soft red winter wheat and six-row distillers malt, and is matured for at least two years in charred oak barrels, making it a straight bourbon whiskey. Charring the inside of the barrels before they are filled with whiskey creates layers of vanilla, caramel, coconut and honeysuckle flavour that are released into the maturing spirit.

Spicing Things Up

A fruity, spicy chilli pepper from South America, habaneros are a popular ingredient in hot sauces and spicy foods. To make its habanero distillate, Horse’s Spirit Co. mills fresh peppers and macerates them in molasses-based spirit, before distilling the chilli-infused spirit with a small amount of Black-Forest spring water and leaving it to rest in earthenware jars for several months.

This Bourbon is simply delicious. I got it for my husband as a thank you and we shared a glass yesterday - both him and I loved it!

Received as a gift, i really didn't know what to expect but was pleasantly surprised - very nice as a dram although you don't get much heat from the chili, great with ginger beer and a healthy squeeze of lemon.

It's definitely an acquired taste. Even as a fan of bourbon and Chilli's I'm not sure they work together. Personally I was nearly sick
