A decadent Guatemalan rum from Ron Zacapa, Royal Rum has been matured in a solera system and finished in French oak casks from Le Bois du Roy. The palate offers notes of roasted walnuts, ground almonds, dark chocolate, plums, treacle and marzipan that linger in the finish.

It’s just one of the best rums I’ve ever had, I’ve had rums that are upward of £1,500 per bottle that are 40 years old and I’ve even had rums that were from another century and I’ve got to say modern rums are much better this is worth so much more than it’s asking price. It’s what a really expensive rum tastes like but in its own unique Ron Zacapa way. The Reserva Especial is my go to bottle when they get released failing that I stick with the Ron zacapa XO but in this case I could not help my self. Sadly with Inflation and the purchasing power of the pound evaporating and with the price hikes these super premium bottles are going to be well out of our reaches and we won’t be able to be lucky enough to buy them to try them. It’s a crying shame because the prices are ridiculous with whisky and rum at the moment. The mid 2000s was the golden age of buying these super premium rums and whiskies. The best thing we can do is form a rum or whisky club and group buy these wonderful libations.

Yes , and like most fine alcoholic drinks , it tastes better in good company in a great location. My first taste was in Orkney with whisky drinkers , and because whisky isn’t to my taste, I was offered this. Excellent Rum.
