A 2010 Corftengea single malt from indie bottler House of Macduff, made at Loch Lomond distillery and matured in a single cask for 11 years, before being bottled as part of its Golden Cask range. Aromas of burnt oak, white pepper and ripe peaches fill the nose, complemented by notes of brown sugar, sultana, wood smoke and struck matches throughout the palate.

A fantastic whisky with a powerful strength! Nose of peaches as it says and a lovely tad of smoke on the palate. I am a big Islay fan but first time I have tried it and will be getting it again.
If I'd have tasted this blind I'd have said it was a Caol Ila (possibly "as we get it" lslay series) Although it doesn't say it on the bottle, I'd assume it's natural colour due to the straw-ish hue in the glass. Lovely oaky note with burnt embers/matches on the palate. Slightly different style of peat (hence the Highlands) but not a million miles away from your lslay house style. Really pleasant tasting at full strength without water, not much heat (which you would expect at 57%) although the nose and palate open up lovely with that drop of water (it doesn't need much) Croftengea can be hit or miss (if it's sherried as I found out with the periodical series) but I like this bottle and is slightly cheaper than Ian McLeods "as we get it" series. Only the neck pour so expected to oxides and change slightly
