Released in recognition of the popularity of its small-batch Rich Oak bottlings, this is a sweet, rich and fruity single malt. Aged in ex-bourbon casks and then finished in a selection of European ex-wine casks, this has notes of dark chocolate fudge, pepper, mango, green apple and vanilla. Long time fan of Penderyn - I only buy Rich Oak for special occasions. Last week I walked away (albeit gingerly) from a high speed (on duty, blue light) RTC. As part of my celebration of life and because it really is too short for cheap whisky, I grabbed a bottle of this today (Clubcard discount may apply). It is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. no water needed - just deep flavours and at 46% a clout to be thankful for. You don't need to be thankful for being alive to appreciate good whisky but it certainly doesn't diminish from the experience to have such a good glass to hand while you do.
