Tasting Notes

Tasting Notes

  • SMWS Tasting Notes

    • This malt is made in Campbeltown's main distillery, but is a more highly peated version, produced under a separate name. A refill butt has imparted a dirty blonde colour to the dram. The full strength nose has smoky bonfires, harbour smells, dusty-musty bookshops and Brasso. Reduced it also has salt and vinegar crisps. The taste comes as a bit of a shock - smoky, salty, hot and peppery. Neat, which we preferred, it has liquorice and tobacco leaf. After water it is like gammon cooked on a tarry driftwood bonfire. Close your eyes and think of old puffers in Campbeltown harbour.
