VAT 69 is a famous old brand of blended whisky, chosen by Sir Ernest Shackleton to accompany him on his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914 'for medicinal and celebratory purposes', and also famously the favourite whisky of Captain Lewis Nixon of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, immortalised in the book and TV series Band of Brothers.

Bought this on a whim off the back of Band of Brothers. Possibly the greatest risk I’ve ever taken. The smoothest scotch blend you could ask for.

Yes, it was the first whisky I bought when I was a teenager in the Netherlands. I now live in France; since 2000 and I find it very hard to buy. It is 2022now and I am 90

Amazing cheap whisky. Very smooth, not too harsh. Perfect for the novice. I can see why Nixon was addicted to this stuff. The nectar of the gods!
