Product Description

Please note

  • Removing the bottle from the box will leave some marks to the interior as shown in the photographs.

A lowland peated single malt from Bladnoch distillery, Alinta takes its name from an indigenous Australian word, found in several native Southeast Australian languages, that means 'fire' and 'flames'. Matured in a combination of ex-Pedro Ximenez sherry and ex-bourbon casks, Alinta finds a great balance between aromas of sweet oak spice, heather and vanilla-tinged smoke on the nose and rich campfire smoke, toasted almonds, raisins, white chocolate and burning heather throughout the palate.

    Whisky Al,

I am an admirer Bladnoch 11. I also love Laphroig 10, for it’s unapologetic peat-in-your-face (though obviously there’s more to Laphroig than just smoke). So was a little apprehensive about Bladnoch Alinta; I didn’t want an Islay imitation. But I needn’t have worried. Johnny Walker Black Label is probably smokier. The peat in Alinta is very subtle, more like a seasoning. You have to search for it, which is no bad thing. The nose is sweet and floral, enhanced with a splash of water. The flavour you get raisin and the hint of smoke. But it’s more dying embers than full on bonfire. Mouthfeel is low in tanin. Finish is smooth, medium length but again quite sweet. It’s a lovely whisky, but possibly a bit heavy on the PX Sherry. If I could, would give it 4.5 star, just lacks that extra dimension. But would definitely recommend
