Product Description
Powerful pot still rum meets elegant Bordeaux wine in this exceptional single cask release from Renaissance. Made with Taiwanese molasses – fermented for an incredible 13 days – this expression was first matured in American white oak before it was transferred to a single barrique from Château Léoville-Poyferré in Saint-Julien. The first-fill red wine cask brings aromas of dried figs, summer berries and French oak spice to a spirit already rich in notes of pineapple, guava and mango.
Though the subtropical climate of Taiwan leads to relatively rapid maturation, this intensely characterful rum nonetheless demonstrates a great balance of cask influence and spirit character. A real treat for anyone with an adventurous palate and further proof that Renaissance is one of the most exciting small distilleries in the world.

Bordeaux to Taiwan
Renaissance founders Linya Chiou and Olivier Caen didn’t start out making rum. Prior to their early experiments with small pot stills and Taiwanese sugarcane they imported Armagnac, whisky and fine French wines. When they came to lay their first rums down to age, those strong ties in Europe gave them access to some of best-quality casks in the world. Among them was this barrique from Chateau Léoville Poyferré in Bordeaux – one of the preeminent producers of the Saint-Julien appellation.
Since launching in 2017, this small distillery has won fans the world over for its intensely flavoursome rums and commitment to transparency. Each bottling comes with detailed information about raw materials and production methods. The labels tell us whether dunder has been used in the fermentation, where the cuts were made during distillation, and how long the rum spent in various casks. This spirit of openness and experimentation, combined with an unerring commitment to quality, has already distinguished Renaissance as one of the most exciting names in rum.
