Party Time is a 2009 Glenrothes single malt from independent bottler Simply Whisky that was initially matured in refill oloroso sherry hogsheads, before being finished in oloroso sherry octaves until it was bottled in December 2021 at 12-years-old. Aromas of burnt sugar, toffee, soft leather, oak, toasted walnuts, raspberries, rum-and-raisin chocolates and vanilla fill the nose, complemented by notes of ginger, clove, nutmeg, blackberries, dark chocolate and prunes throughout the palate.

Nose
Burnt sugar, toffee, old oak and leather. Walnut-whip ice cream with raspberry coulis. Rum and raisin chocolates, prune juice and vanilla.

Palate
Elegant ginger, clove and nutmeg spices. Juicy blackberries, rich sherry, sweet balsamic and bitter dark chocolate all overlay a beautiful oakiness.

Finish
Long and warming with rolling spices and a squeeze of dark chocolate sauce. A medley of prunes and rum re-appear. Drying oak to fade.

Nose
Big, sweet and meaty fudge opens on the nose, with nutty, almost gravy-like notes close behind. Very savoury and big.

Palate
The opening of the palate is big and bold, with a mouth-coating texture, sweet mid-palate and some spice, but nothing overwhelming. Adding water reveals 'new oak' characteristics - coconut, vanilla, honey - very different from before, with a hint of bitterness in the finish.
