A limited-edition English rye whisky from Oxford Artisan Distillery that is made with heritage grains, grown near the distillery, and was initially matured in American oak casks, before being finished in rare Moscatel Roxo casks from Setúbal, Portugal. Moscatel Roxo, or Purple Moscatel, is a grape variety that was almost completely wiped out when the risk of phylloxera caused winemakers to cease planting its delicate vines. Aromas of honeysuckle, blackberries, plums, peaches, raisins, buttery pastry, flapjacks, almond and hazelnut fill the nose, complemented by notes of hazelnut milk chocolate, sweet grapes, mint, spicy pepper, sourdough and pain aux raisins throughout the palate.
