Product Description
A limited-edition single malt from Old Pulteney that was initially matured in American oak casks, before being finished in specially-selected French oak Pineau des Charentes casks, creating layers of sweetness that compliment Old Pulteney's signature salty character. Aromas of honey, vanilla, homemade jam, stewed apples, candied orange, cinnamon, balsamic raisins and black pepper fill the nose, complemented by notes of caramelised hazelnuts, ground cinnamon, raisins, orange peel, sea salt and honey throughout the palate.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
From The Producer
Nose
Fragrant and rich with honey sweetness and vanilla at the base. Intense fruitiness starts jammy and stewed and develops into candied oranges and sticky balsamic raisins. Hints of toasted spices and powder pepper complete this stunning profile.
Palate
Viscous and lingering. Warm spices like nutmeg and cardamom lead, followed by gentle nuttiness, overall reminiscent of dukkah. Beautifully structured oakiness is perfumed with a wine reduction and balanced by creamy vanilla.
Finish
Caramelised hazelnuts and ground spices grow into an immense, lingering finish. It tails off into a broad sweetness, drying ever so slowly towards a savoury finale of coastal minerality.
Crafted By The Coast
Established in 1862 in the thriving fishing port of Wick in the north of Scotland, Pulteney distillery has been defined and shaped by its stunning coastal home. Distilled and matured by the coast, its warehouses are exposed to the elements and the invigorating air blowing in from the North Sea. Every drop of whisky reflects those elements, offering everything from subtle coastal hints to more defined saltiness that mingles with vanilla and spice. The Coastal series embraces the impact the North Sea has on Old Pulteney single malts, pairing it with casks sourced from equally-coastal locations around the world.
What is Pineau des Charentes?
Legend has it that Pineau des Charentes was made around 400 years ago in the Charente-Maritime region of France’s southwest coast, when fermenting grape juice ('must') was added to a barrel containing Cognac eau-de-vie by mistake. Like wine, Pineau des Charentes is made in white, red and rosé styles. The white and rosé styles are typically served chilled as an aperitif, whereas red and aged white and rosé styles make an excellent match for cheeses.
About Old Pulteney
Pulteney distillery was built in 1826 in Wick, the historic Caithness fishing port at the northern end of Scotland’s western coast, making it one of Scotland’s most northerly mainland distilleries. Production continued until 1930, when prohibition was introduced in Wick – a ban on alcohol that lasted an agonising 17 years. Old Pulteney eventually reopened in the early 1950s, and was substantially rebuilt towards the end of that decade.
Now owned by Inver House distillers, Old Pulteney has been rescued from being merely a blending ingredient in recent years and is now well-known for producing sought-after fruity, malty, sweet-and-salty single malts.
