If you go down to the woods near Tain... you may well bump into Dr Bill Lumsden, Head of Distilling & Whisky Creation at Glenmorangie. The intrepid Dr Bill loves a morning woodland ramble, and on his regular adventures he's been inspired to combine the flavours of the forest with his beloved whisky.

By kilning the barley used to make this whisky with juniper, birch bark and heather blossom, Glenmorangie have infused their single malt with the earthy, nutty, vegetal and floral notes that you might encounter in the forest. This is a unique botanical whisky and a welcome reminder that forests are magical places.

    • Nose

      A bouquet of pine, juniper and coriander, along with roasted chestnut and an intriguing whisper of smoke.

    • Palate

      Flavour explodes in the mouth. Whirls of peppermint. Bursts of eucalyptus. Rustles of bitter orange. All floating on clouds of vanilla with intriguing hints of black liquorice.

    • Finish

      Concludes with a slow and luscious finish featuring lemon, orange and a soft hint of oak.

    After the chocolaty brilliance of 'A Tale Of Winter' the unexpected earthiness, hint of smoke and strong citrus kick was a real surprise. If you prefer your Glenmorangie soft and sweet (hello Nectar d'Or) this won't be for you but if you want to experience a distiller pushing the boundaries I'd recommend you try it.
