Tasting Notes by TF
Nose: Glorious varnished wood aromas, a touch of smoke, plenty of sherry notes, gingerbread, brown sugar, syrup. What a cask this must have been.
Palate: Mouth-coating oak, with wood spice, but quite medium-weight. Very sherried, but the malt hangs in there - just. This is delicate and classy.
Finish: Dry. The spices outlast the wood and oak, with good length and delicate layers of malt and sherry fading softly away.
Comment: 40.5% tells its own story - they caught this in the nick of time. Intense flavours in a very delicate body - perhaps could have been bottled a couple of years ago for the extra weight, but this is a beautiful, elegant old lady.
