The first release in lowland distillery Lindores Abbey's Friar John Cor Congregation series – a collection of whiskies celebrating the official recognition of Lindores Abbey as the site of the first recorded distillation of Scotch whisky in 1494. Chapter 1 is a cask strength whisky that was matured in a combination of bourbon, Monbazillac, shaved-toasted-and-recharred and sherry casks, creating a complex, sweet character that compliments Lindores classic style. Aromas of ripe banana, honeycomb, apricot, red apple, peaches and freshly-baked pastries fill the nose, complimented by notes of dates, apricots, cinnamon, figs, prunes, blood oranges, almonds and honey throughout the palate and lingering in the finish.
