Rye whiskey has a long history, starting in the 1700s with settlers in what is now the north-eastern United States. The hardy rye grains they brought with them from Europe thrived in the newly founded colonies and quickly found their way into the first American spirits. Production of rye whiskey hit an all-time high in the late-19th century, but the category almost died out over night with the introduction of Prohibition in 1920. Thankfully, interest in rye whiskey has since returned with a vengeance and a new rye revolution has begun. This set is dedicated to showcasing the different styles of rye made around the world, from venerable old producers and innovative newcomers.
