Customer Reviews

I've had several bottles of this stuff and I love it...it's fairly unique and the nose and mouth always remind me of cold cup of tea with no milk-strange I know! Has just the requisite amount of peat and smoke, and a little salty as most Campbelltowners are. Overall it's great fun, and at a strength which makes it good value for a regular dram.

  • Davepat

This is most interesting and enticing whisky. Stunning winey notes to begin with, then a battle between whisky and wine with the result quite unusual, an odd compromise with a moderated taste of salt, smoke and scent of grape. Is this the red wine drinkers whisky? Not sure, an oddity. SMWS once bottled a Bruichladich out of port pipes that was pink in colour and quite stunning, this is not quite as stunning, but good.

I had a little schnifter of this recently and the first thing that came out my mouth was - wow! This is quite something. Nose invoked butter cream sponge filling. Palete was smokey, rich, big mouth feel. Finished with hint of peat. Amazing for a 7 year - perhaps they should let the Angels take a couple more % pts but two drops of water would take off the full cask edge - wish I had tried that!

Nose: nosy. Taste: I'd say tasty, but that would be silly, so I'll say poignant. Finish: true friendship.

Marmite whisky. Love it or hate it. Nose: Barolo grape/wine prominent, then sweet barley and peat smokiness. Taste: Interesting Bourbon/Barolo battle, then Longrow emerges with salt/peat-smoke. Finish: Long, peat dies away. Salty. Verdict: Something unique and different if you want pure Longrow go for 14YO.
