Product Description
Distilled in 1990, this Glentauchers remained untouched for 33 years in a refill American oak barrel. The single malt was then bottled for the Lost in Time series at the perfect moment to showcase its deeply complex character. There is a pleasant aroma of spent fireworks, followed by preserved lemons, malt biscuits and blackberry jam on the nose, leading to toasted barley and jam tarts, punctuated by hints of ripe berries.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Freshly crushed grain, creamy porridge, lemon zest and slowly building fruit notes lead to a touch of sappy oak.
Palate
The sappiness of the nose explodes into fruit on the palate, with garibaldi biscuits, apple sauce and blackcurrants. Polished oak sits at the back accompanied by balanced Granny Smith apples and toffee sauce.
Finish
Polished oak and backed apples fade to leave sweet spice.
Glentauchers 1990
Inside the thick granite walls of Glentauchers, Chivas Brothers' distillers create the luscious and fruity whiskies that form the heart of their most beloved blends. The distillery was established in 1898 by the formidable businessman and whisky baron James Buchanan, one of the people who helped to bring Scotch whisky to the world stage. Like many of Scotland’s great workhorse distilleries, its single malts can be hard to come by. But expressions like this reveal why it’s treasured by whisky enthusiasts as much as master blenders.

This landmark series features eight stunning single malts, plucked from the warehouses of Speyside’s great distilleries. After decades of lying in wait, these single casks were chosen by The Whisky Exchange and Chivas Brothers to provide a snapshot of whisky making at the turn of the 21st century. Each one is bottled without chill filtration or added water to ensure its respective distillery character really shines.
