Product Description
This wonderfully complex whisky was distilled in 2003 and left to mature in a single first-fill American oak cask. As the years passed it distinguished itself as a particularly fine example of Miltonduff single malt, which led Chivas Brothers and The Whisky Exchange to select it for the Lost in Time series. Over two decades in cask, Miltonduff’s classic floral character has evolved into a more herbaceous style. There are hints of bay leaf and fresh grass on the nose, leading to ginger biscuits and white chocolate mice, followed by fleshy blood oranges, hemp seeds and almond croissant on the palate.

Tasting Notes
Tasting Notes
Billy Abbott, The Whisky Exchange
Nose
Stewed lemons and vanilla cream. Notes of almonds develop along with butter icing dotted with white chocolate and sultanas, with polished oak underneath.
Palate
White chocolate with a touch of strawberry and sultana to start. Apple sauce and poached pears build, with mint and a little bit of menthol.
Finish
Mint and menthol fade to leave butter cream.
Miltonduff
Lying in the heart of Elgin, this charming distillery is among the oldest in Scotland. It started as a clandestine operation, producing illicit whisky in makeshift stills, under the name Milton. The year 1824 marked its official founding when it secured a license and added ‘duff' to its name. Today, it carefully crafts fresh and floral whiskies for the famed Ballantine’s blend. Like many other entries in the Lost in Time series, this is a celebration of one of Speyside’s lesser-seen distilleries. A great reminder that there are incredible single malts to be found just off the beaten path.
From the many warehouses of Speyside, emerge eight remarkable single casks, carefully selected by The Whisky Exchange and Chivas Brothers. These stunning whiskies have been kept in oak for decades, waiting for the perfect moment in their maturation. They now offer us a captivating glimpse into the artistry of whisky-making at the cusp of the 21st century.
