This was the 6th cask of Inchmurrin that The Scotch Malt Whisky Society bottled. They call this bottle "From the carpenter's shop". Inchmurrin is one of eight single malts produced at Loch Lomond distillery, this is made possible due to the adjustable stills, which can be altered to make different styles of whisky.

Tasting Notes

  • Producer's Notes

The distillery stands at Alexandria near Loch Lomond, and this uncommon malt (it produces two) takes its name from a small island in the loch, which was once used as a naturist's retreat. Full gold in colour, the unreduced nose is of linseed oil and putty, with appetising paint-like notes in the background. With water it sweetens; soft, creamy fudge; and presents a light orange note (more pips and pith than juice or skin). The flavour echoes several of these aromas: a viscous, oily mouthfeel; sweet to start, then turning bitter. Rich and long, with more light oil. Complex, pleasant and very rare.
