Producer's NotesThe distillery stands at Alexandria near Loch Lomond, and this uncommon malt (it produces two) takes its name from a small island in the loch, which was once used as a naturist's retreat. Full gold in colour, the unreduced nose is of linseed oil and putty, with appetising paint-like notes in the background. With water it sweetens; soft, creamy fudge; and presents a light orange note (more pips and pith than juice or skin). The flavour echoes several of these aromas: a viscous, oily mouthfeel; sweet to start, then turning bitter. Rich and long, with more light oil. Complex, pleasant and very rare.
