SMWS Tasting NotesDuring the Second World War, a stray German plane dropped a bomb on this distillery: nobody was injured but a warehouse was burned to the ground, and as whisky discharged into the burn, ducks and cows were visibly intoxicated. It closed in 1983. This refill cask has given the whisky a rich amber colour. The nose is, likewise, rich though somewhat cooling; fruits soaked in liquor, spice and fragrant wooden boxes. With water, a light Plasticine note emerges, joined by a trace of honey. The flavour is waxy and mouth-coating with a long finish. We were reminded of a well-worn and much-loved jacket. A cask to treasure.
