We selected this single cask from a distillery in the Lowlands for its vivid fruity notes that reminded us immediately of summer. One of three whiskies chosen to kick off our limited-edition series The Seasons, this is an inviting dram that brings to mind peaches, ripe bananas and even a little spritz of suncream. When we began searching for summery single malts, we knew we wanted to include an expression from the Lowlands. Stretching from the Scottish Borders to just south of Stirling, the Lowlands is strongly associated with bright, fruity whiskies like this one which is packed with notes of apricot and yellow cherry. 11 years in a refill hogshead has let the spirit mature nicely without becoming overwhelmed, a great example of whisky and cask working in perfect harmony.

This series of 12 exceptional single malts is designed to reflect the feel and flavours of the passing seasons, beginning with summer and ending with spring. The first release in the set finds this delicious Lowlander joined by a rich, creamy Benriach and a wonderfully mature Ardmore packed with notes of pineapple, honey and beeswax. Each bottling in The Seasons series is drawn from a single cask and offered without any additives or chill filtration.

    Incredible dram, peach iced tea on the nose, vanilla and banana on the palate, some orange for the after finish, really smooth and low burn for 58.8%. All in all, a huge bang for the buck
